Job Description

Mailgun is hiring a Technical Business Analyst to join our business intelligence team and help drive the team's mission of collecting and analyzing internal data to best partner with business leaders. This team is responsible for ensuring optimal efficiency and effectiveness for business units including sales, marketing, support, engineering, and operations.  As part of this fast-paced, fast-growth company, you will have a high degree of exposure to different departments and leaders, being a key contributor to taking the company to the next level.

In order to be successful in this position, you must be able to effectively communicate with non-technical people, move quickly and adapt to business needs, and be a thought leader that can help drive meaningful actions. This is a very important position that comes with much responsibility given its impact to the business, so maturity and a good attitude are must haves.


  • Gather requirements for business analysis from various internal groups
  • Translate requirements into reporting/analytical artifacts using SQL, Looker, and Excel
  • Create complex queries of datasets to aggregate and extract desired information
  • Perform advanced analytics on large datasets in order to:
    • Identify and evaluate trends and anomalies
    • Determine business impact of different scenarios and decisions
    • Provide business leaders insights and understanding of business and customer dynamics
    • Create and report metrics to measure, manage, and predict business performance
    • Create dashboards to measure and drive desired behaviors and outcomes


Job Requirements

  • Strong SQL knowledge with minimum of 3+ years of hands on experience
  • Ability to write and execute complex SQL against large sets of data
  • Strong problem solving skills
  • Ability to learn new things quickly and self teach
  • Capable of managing multiple competing tasks
  • Technically proficient with Excel and Google Analytics

  • Advanced knowledge of Excel
  • Experience with predictive analytics
